Update: Cape Breton International Drum Festival Announces Full Lineup For 10th Year Celebration

The Directors of the 9th Annual Cape Breton International Drum Festival, Mike Megaffin, Jennifer Nemeth and Ryan MacArthur, today announced the full festival lineup for 2010.
The festival is being staged at the Savoy Theatre, Glace Bay, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, Canada on Saturday May 22nd and Sunday May 23rd, 2010.
Many of the biggest names in the world of drumming are coming to Cape Breton to celebrate the 10th annual event which is being staged at the theatre of dreams, The Savoy Theatre in Glace Bay, Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada .
Jennifer Nemeth announced, “We are very excited to confirm world drumming megastars Virgil Donati, Denny Seiwell, and Bill Cobham will be amongst the drummers performing at the festival next year.” Nemeth added “In a bold move that clearly shows the high regard the Cape Breton International Drum Festival holds in the world drumming community, early commitment from many of the worlds finest performers has enabled the directors to confirm a stellar line up at such an early date."
“10 years is a big milestone” said Ryan MacArthur “So many drummers and percussionists wanted to be here, and we have an amazing lineup and people will be very happy to see past favourites such as Bernard “Pretty” Purdie and Pete Lockett return.”MacArthur also added, “New York session giant Billy Ward, who was at the first and fifth years, is back to share the historic 10 th year celebration, we couldn't imagine doing it without him."
There will be two Master Classes in 2010, one on the night of Friday 21st and one on the morning of Sunday 23rd before the actual Festival starts.
There will be a special two for one ticket price for the Master Classes. These tickets will be directly available from Bruce Aitken or Mike Megaffin.
“Tickets go on sale July 1st 2009”, said Jennifer Nemeth, “and details will be available on the Festival website at that time.”Festival Director Mike Megaffin commented, “It is with great pleasure we are able to announce that the 2010 Legends Award will be presented to Carmine Appice, Alan White, Jerry Mercer, Roxy Petrucci and Virgil Donati for their major contribution to drumming and to education, plus their ground breaking performances truly are legendary.”
The Legends Award is designed and created by outstanding artist/blacksmith/drummer, John Little of East Dover, Nova Scotia.
