Local Santa Cruz Metal Bands Help Victims In Haiti

Shanna McCord from Santacruzsentinel.com is reporting: Metal rock music blared from Coasters Lounge on Sunday during a tribute to the victims of last month's devastating earthquake in Haiti.

Three local teen rock bands - ALMOST CHAOS, RAPID FIRE and JACKIE ROCKS - put on a show to raise money to be given to the Santa Cruz chapter of the American Red Cross for use in helping Haitians piece their lives back together after the quake that destroyed buildings and killed an estimated 150,000 people.

"I'm really proud of them," said Kathryn Gestri, the mother of two 13-year-old members of Rapid Fire, Danny and Chris. "They're performing this community service while also fulfilling their love of music."
