February 23, 2010, 14 years ago
According to the DEEP PURPLE Appreciation Society, Deep Purple shows for 2010 are being firmed up. Steve Morse has mentioned "Australia, Asia, South Africa, and a huge European tour".
Seven Australian tour dates have been confirmed on the Lennard Promotions website, who say that Deep Purple will be supported by young Australian band ELECTRIC MARY.
Their first dates in South Africa since 1995 (with the band due to join URIAH HEEP and WISHBONE ASH for the Masters Of Rock concert tour) kick off on Friday, May 28th in Johannesburg, go on to Durban May 30th, and wrap up on June 1st in Cape Town (missing the World Cup by 10 days - they played in Germany during the last one).
There is the visit to Ireland in June and the band are lined up for the Swedish Rockweekend Festival 8-9-10th Julyn near Kilafors. The band will play 13 shows in Germany during November, with MARILLION getting a one hour support slot.
