MESHUGGAH - New Interview Available With Alive DVD Director/Producer Ian McFarland
February 24, 2010, 14 years ago
Metal Assault has issued a new interview with MESHUGGAH Alive DVD director/producer Ian McFarland of Killswitch Productions. The following is an excerpt from the interview, conducted by Aniruddh "Andrew" Bansal:
Q: The Meshuggah DVD has been going pretty great, hasn't it? How long did the whole process take?
A: "Yeah its cool to be involved with such an iconic band as Meshuggah, being allowed to be part of their camp and family. It's been an overwhelming experience. I met Meshuggah a while back, when Mike Pecci and I were gearing up to do the 'Bleed' music video and the relationship progressed from there. As far as the Alive concert film, it took about 10 months-a week of shooting and then editing off and on. Because we went back and forth with the band throughout the whole process, we would keep coming back to it."

As of last Friday (February 19th), the Alive DVD had sold 3,000 copies since its release on February 9th and debuted at #8 on the Nielsen SoundScan Top Music DVD Video chart.
Sharing the Top 10 slots are MICHAEL JACKSON, CELTIC THUNDER, REBA MCENTIRE, CELTIC WOMAN, BEYONCE, PINK, IL DIVO and JOURNEY.
Shot by Ian McFarland during Meshuggah's 2009 North American tour and their 2008 performance at the Loudpark Festival in Tokyo, Japan, Alive contains concert footage of selections from the band’s Billboard Top 200-charting 2008 release, obZen, in addition to their time-tested career staples.
Gracefully interlacing the live tracks are behind-the-scenes vignettes shot in black & white that give Alive a concert film feel so unlike many of the live DVDs currently on the market. The result is a visceral, visual abduction into the band’s metric insanity-in-action.
Alive comes with a bonus live audio CD containing twelve tracks.
