Antihuman Manifesto

Willow Wisp founder Toe Knee is featured in a new interview for Metal Magdalene. An excerpt is available below.

Q: Is your music anti-God in any way?

Toe Knee: "Completely anti-God but possibly not in the sense that most would understand. Our version attacks more of the human element toward mistakes and folly. We do have totally over the top heretical rants upon 'God' and 'Jesus' in such songs as '7734999' but overall we analyze our contempt towards the mistakes that bi-peds have rendered upon the earth, specifically religion."

Q: So why did you decide to play black metal?

Toe Knee: Our initial influences in 1985 were MERCYFUL FATE, BATHORY, VENOM and IMPALER. That influence stayed with us throughout our career.Willow Wisp has always been eclectic and the only thing separating us from eternal darkness is the sun and the advent of candles and artificial light."

Q: What about your music has changed since the early days to the current line-up of Willow Wisp?

Toe Knee: "I dare say we have been guilty of experimentation but we have. Willow Wisp has always had that dark and esoteric vibe but the image and stage presentations have changed (or evolved to de-evolve to evolve yet again) into varying monstrosities since our inception in 1987."
