February 26, 2010, 14 years ago
According to Digitalspy.com, SLASH has revealed that he is in talks to play at Download Festival and "a couple of other" UK events this summer.
The former GUNS N" ROSES guitarist told Newsbeat that he is also considering a string of European festival dates following the release of his debut solo album on May 10.
He said: "I know we were talking about doing Download and there's a couple of other ones. We'll do some around Germany as well."
The 44-year-old went on to say that his mooted festival appearances would follow a tour of his own, adding: "We're going to start doing shows in April and a couple of shows in May.
"Then I'm going to start touring properly in June doing the summer festivals in the UK."The first single from Slash's forthcoming self-titled solo album, entitled 'By The Sword', is scheduled to impact radio next week, on Monday, March 1st.
'By The Sword' features guest vocals from WOLFMOTHER's Andrew Stockdale. Check out fan-filmed video footage of Slash performing the track with Wolfmother below.
Slash will be released in North America on April 6th via EMI and in the UK on May 10th through Roadrunner Records. The album will be released on March 31st in Japan via Universal with an exclusive bonus DVD.
A major undertaking for Slash, he enlisted services of producing partner Eric Valentine (QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE, THE ALL-AMERICAN REJECTS) and compiled a rhythm section of bassist Chris Chaney (JANE'S ADDICTION) and drummer Josh Freese (NINE INCH NAILS). Slash handled the majority of arranging and songwriting duties and hand-picked each guest artist. The album's guests worked collaboratively with Slash to round out the song.
"The idea was really simple in the beginning," said Slash. "These are all artists I wanted to work with – that I thought it would be amazing to do something creative and collaborative. And I was so impressed with what everyone brought to the table. They were all so committed to doing a good job. And we had a lot of fun making these songs."Slash tracklisting with guest vocalists:
