The repertoire titled Big Band Goes Heavy by OULU ALL STAR BIG BAND (OASBB) featuring vocalist J. Ahola (TERÄSBETONI, NORTHERN KINGS) will be recorded this spring and published as an album in May/June 2010.

Commented J. Ahola:

"I am also going to record an album with Oulu All Star Big Band. The tracks will be the same we did in the gigs before, including jazzy and occasionally pompous big band versions of The Show Must Go On, Heart Of Steel, Burn, Vaadimme metallia etc. I feel curious about this. How they will sound on CD? It remains to be heard!"

The conductor and artistic director of OASBB, Tapio Maunuvaara, told in an interview at Kaleva.fi in October 2009, that the idea to make big band versions of metal songs came from the OASBB, who have previously performed pop songs arranged to big band versions. They invited J. Ahola as their vocalist and Ahola selected a set of melodic metal and hard rock songs. OASBB searched different persons to make the new arrangements of the songs for big band, in order to get more varying styles for the sound.

Big Band Goes Heavy got its live premiere at the third Oulu All Star Big Band Festival in November 2009. It was also part of the Oulu Music Festival 2010 programme in March.
