The CD release party in London for the 25th Anniversary remastered edition of THOR’S Only The Strong (Ektro Records) will go on as planned – without the guest of honor. The very Jotuns of Iceland’s Eyjafjallajokull vocano have awakened, causing an eruption that has grounded European air travel. Grounding Thor and crew (German appearances are postponed as well).

Thor stated, “The band, crew and I showed up at the airport today to board the plane and were turned back. All flights to Europe are cancelled. We have absolutely NO way of getting there. Loki and The Midgard serpent Jormangundr continue Ragnarok using the earth as its battlefield.”

However, NEONFLY– whose guitarist Frederick Thunder was instrumental in getting this show together - will host the CD release party anyway, and perform some Thor songs in the guest of honor’s absence. Thor does, however, plan on rescheduling as soon as air traffic is permitted, again with Neonfly as special guests.

Frederick Thunder explained: “We're all very sad about this but there's nothing that can be done. We're still gonna play with DOCTOR DEATH, the opening band, and we will throw in a couple of Thor songs in our setlist as well as sell Thor merchandise to make the release party happen but that's all we can do.”

The 25th anniversary of Thor’s Only The Strong is marked with the release of the album, re-mastered and including bonus surprises. Thor is also getting the magical goats – Tanngrisni and Tanngnost - harnessed to his Thunder Chariot for a World Tour, according to a press release. Again, the European leg of the tour will have to be postponed. Dates will be announced when they are rescheduled.

The CD Release Party is still at The Gaff in London on April 19, headlined by Neonfly.

The set list will concentrate mainly on Only The Strong for the world tour.

According to Thor: “We’ll probably do Only The Strong in its entirety. But we will have a couple others, like We Live To Rock – everybody always wants to hear that one from Rock 'n’ Roll Nightmare, which of course was recently voted the greatest rock and roll movie of All Time by Exclaim Magazine, which we’re very proud of! That’s over A Hard Day’s Night and all the biggest Rock movies of all time! Even Spinal Tap! We were very proud to get that award! That song We Live To Rock is from that movie, and everybody wants to hear it all the time. So we’ll play that. Of course we’ll play some of the favorites, but we’re mainly concentrating on Only The Strong.”

The London show was to have been filmed (and may still happen during the rescheduled show) as part of a documentary on Thor’s career which has been in the works for awhile and is soon to be released.

Thor has plenty of other irons in the fire now as well: besides the aforementioned documentary, he’s starring in a new movie, Thor Vs. Hercules, and his Vancouver Millionaires sportswear line is doing extremely well, especially during the Winter Olympics recently held in Vancouver, BC.
