With Bobnoxious, what you see is what you get.

In fact, band founder and lead singer Bob J. Reid admits that when he’s writing songs and performing, the group isn’t trying to split the atom. There’s no intricate time changes, cryptic lyrics or insane chord progressions.

“We’re like the Ramones on speed or Chuck Berry driving a bulldozer,” said Reid, the former frontman of Razor and SFH, from his home.

“We’re just rock and roll with a drink in our hand. Simplistic as s***.

“If you were to see us on the street, you can bet your left nut that we look exactly the same walking or getting out of bed as we do on the stage. You’re probably going to see as many empties on the stage as you do in my f***ing house. It’s not fake, we don’t sing about s*** we don’t know about. That’s for sure.”

But what the London-based band does bring to the table is hard driving rock with catchy lyrics that seem to get even first-time listeners singing along. Reid said he writes about things that happen in his life and finds his listeners seem to relate, which could be why Bobnoxious shows resemble a jam session with 400 of their closest friends.

“A lot of it is because of the topics, like partying, drinking,” Reid said with a laugh.

“Usually, unless you haven’t been down that road, you’re not really understanding what we’re saying. It’s kind of like a Simpsons episode, where mom and dad know what’s going on and the kids find it funny, but it really just flies right over their heads. The kids like the tunes because it sounds cool to them, it’s upbeat and it’s funny, but mom and dad are like, I think I know what he’s talking about. And there’s nothing wrong with a cold cocktail going down when you’re listening to our tunes.”
