Producer Kevin Shirley Says New JOURNEY Record Should Be Ready For Early 2011 Release

Producer/sound engineer Kevin Shirley (LED ZEPPELIN, IRON MAIDEN, AEROSMITH) is currently working on JOURNEY's second album with new singer Arnel Pineda, who was plucked from obscurity when the band caught him singing 'Faithfully' on YouTube.
Shirley has issued this latest update via his Caveman's Diary about the follow-up to 2008's Revelation:
"The new Journey album recording is almost finished - we have a few lead vocals to do, Neal (Schon) wants to do a few segueways and we'll get to those and the mix in November, and I think that should wrap it up for an early 2011 release."Shirley previously commented on the recordings, stating: "Recording of the new Journey album is going along very well - eleven tracks recorded - four are complete minus backing vocals, and there are lead vocals and a guitar solo to go on the rest - a little percussion here and there, a bass fix, etc.
It's the same deal, recording-wise, the difference is in the details. The new songs are very, very creative and rocking, and I like the creativity within Journey, but (like every other band) there are internal rubs (after 30 years in the business) which makes the days not necessarily as much fun as hard work. There is a theme to the entire album, which is very sexy and very rocking."
Stay tuned for further updates.
