As previously reported, Cinderella guitarist Jeff LaBar has joined the roster of the upcoming tribute album, Whole Lotta Love: An All-Star Salute To Fat Chicks.
Jeff appears as part of Tennessee-based rock outfit RUFUS FONTAIN, featuring original JACKYL vocalist Ronnie Honeycutt, guitarist Tim Lewis, bassist Hayden James and drummer Shawn Hughes (NAKED BEGGARS, JOHN CORABI). The five-piece rips through a high-octane version of the AC/DC concert staple 'Whole Lotta Rosie', showcasing LaBar's signature guitar tone and Honeycutt's patented Bon Scott rasp. A sample of the song is now available at the official Whole Lotta Love MySpace page.
'Whole Lotta Rosie' tells the true-life tale of an intimate encounter between the late AC/DC singer and a sexual dynamo by the name of Rosie, all 42"-39"-56" and 250+ lbs. of her. Rosie's legendary amplitude provided inspiration not only for the song itself, but also for the large inflatable Rosie that was added to the live AC/DC stage show during the Brian Johnson era. As AC/DC rhythm guitarist Malcolm Young explains in the commentary of the Live at Donington DVD (on which the larger-than-life-sized Rosie can be witnessed in all her glory), "We update her every tour now, she comes in new and improved versions. She never gets thinner, she gets bigger! The boobs always get bigger, the butt gets bigger and more tattoos are added. But she still looks sweet and the fans just love her."
"Having been greatly influenced by AC/DC, I was thrilled to cover 'Whole Lotta Rosie' for this unique tribute," remarks Jeff LaBar. "It gave me the chance to arrange, record and mix an entire song from scratch, rather than just contributing as a guitarist. Naturally, I had the help of some friends from my local Nashville pub! All told, this track took a day to rehearse, a day to record and a day to mix... not bad for a bunch of drunks on the edge!""Singing this song is right up my alley, and not just because I like to scream like Bon Scott!" adds vocalist Ronnie Honeycutt. "This album is a celebration of real women everywhere."
As previously reported, Whole Lotta Love: An All-Star Salute To Fat Chicks is a musical homage to the big, beautiful women who make the rockin' world go 'round. The tribute will feature all-new recordings of popular songs praising the fuller female figure, originally made famous by some of the biggest names in rock and pop music. These anthems to abundance will be performed by renowned rock & rollers from yesterday and today, along with a select few rising stars. In direct opposition to the "no fat chicks" mantra espoused by some, Whole Lotta Love will be a star-studded celebration of large and lovely ladies.
Songs confirmed so far include QUEEN'S arena rock classic 'Fat Bottomed Girls' by L.A. GUNS singer PHIL LEWIS, with guitarist Paul LaPlaca and drummer John Macaluso.
Additional artists and track listings will be announced as they are confirmed. Samples of all tracks are available at the official Whole Lotta Love MySpace page.
Whole Lotta Love: An All-Star Salute To Fat Chicks is scheduled for an August 31st release and is now available for pre-order directly from SplitScreen Entertainment. The first 500 pre-orders will receive a free instant digital download of 'Fat Bottomed Girls' and a surprise bonus item upon delivery of the album.
