SLASH (VELVET REVOLVER, ex-GUNS N' ROSES) spoke with Cristina M from Altsounds.com before his appearance at the UK's Download Festival this weekend. Here are a few excerpts from the chat:

Altsounds.com: Do you think there’ll be a METALLICA or G'N'R for our generation?

Slash: "As much of an optimist as I am, it’s looking increasingly unlikely. It’s really starting to thin out, but we’ll see what happens.

Altsounds.com: Four times at Donington. What memories do you have?

Slash: "The first time was 1988 and it was the first time Guns N' Roses came over here, and we didn’t know how big the band had become in the UK. That sticks with me to this day. The second time was playing in between two metal bands, and I was with SNAKEPIT and no one knew who we were. There was a weird feeling of being out on stage in front of 60,000 people all going ‘What the fuck?’ It was one of those. The time after was with Velvet Revolver and that was one of the most different Download line-ups I’d seen, with MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE and shit like that on. So that was really different. Today’s really cool, because AEROSMITH are here, AIRBOURNE, the whole three days. RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE are one of the most fantastic bands of all time. AC/DC of course. It’s just great to be a part of it."
