THE ACACIA STRAIN’s new album, Wormwood - released last Tuesday, has charted at #67 on the US Billboard Top 200 chart, with 6,466 units sold, according to Nielson Soundscan. This is the highest debut, in both chart position and in number sold, in the band’s five album, ten year plus career.

The album is also ranked at #66 on the Top Current Albums Chart and #8 on the Hard Rock Chart in the US. In Canada they charted at #25 on the independent chart and #40 on the Hard Music Charts for Nielson Soundscan.

Their previous release, 2008’s Continent, debuted at number 107 with approximately 5,700 units sold. This also marks the second highest first week chart debut in Prosthetic Records’ history. The Most Known Unknown, the band’s first DVD debuted at #10 on Billboard’s Top Music Video Sales Chart back in February.

In an era when record sales are plummeting and bands’ careers are being measured in months, The Acacia Strain has proven they are still atop the heap of extreme music.

Front man Vincent Bennett commented; “We couldn't be happier about the reaction Wormwood has been getting. We didn't know how it would go over and so far the feedback has been awesome! We appreciate the support of our fans helping us to get the word out and be a part of this record. Thanks for the support!"

Wormwood was recorded at Planet Z Studios in Hadley, MA with Zeuss handling producing, mixing and mastering.

The Acacia Strain are currently participating in Cool Tour with AS I LAY DYING, UNDEROATH, BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME, BLESSTHEFALL, ARCHITECTS, CANCER BATS and WAR OF AGES. They'll also be in Europe in September and October on the Hell On Earth Tour with TERROR and more.

Even though The Acacia Strain could not make it to the Toronto date of the Cool Tour, fans will be happy to know the band will be returning to Canada soon. More details will follow.
