DARKSIDE - New Line-Up, New Album
September 10, 2010, 14 years ago
Austria's DARKSIDE are currently concentrating on putting together the song-list for their upcoming 20 year anniversary album XX-Deca(y)ed – Throne Of The Deathgod. The band's new line-up is complete featuring Bernd Brodträger on guitars, a young guitar hero from Darkside's hometown Wiener Neustadt, who is involved in projects such as BLED DRY, PEREAT and Vienna's melodic deathsters DEVANIC, guitarist Janos Murri (DEMOLITION, PRIORITY) and Andrea Rabuini on drums (ex-INFERNAL POETRY, EPHEL DUATH). Vocals are being handled by Wolf. The band is still looking for a bass player - interested parties can email info@darkside.co.at.
Darkside are currently working on their anniversary album which will feature songs from all their albums to date as well as some cover songs and some surprises. Also a new song is planned to be released on XX-Deca(y)ed… tentatively scheduled for early summer of 2011.
At the same time the band is already working on their next full-length album entitled A-E-I-O-U, at this stage mainly involving Brodträger and Wolf by making up the lyrical concept and the basics for the songs.
European fans can check out Brodträger's skills on the upcoming European headliner tour of BELPHEGOR, where he will appear in the line-up.
In other news, the band have confirmed that the artwork for XX-Deca(y)ed will be created by Maitre Joachim Luetke, known for his work for DIMMU BORGIR, ARCH ENEMY, MESHUGGAH, KREATOR and countless more artists.
Wolf comments: “It is really amazing how this thing grew on me…after the non-happened reunion show I was fed up with everything until I got together with Bernd. He is an exiting guitar player, but even more focused on what we intend to do. Before we started the whole thing, he wanted me to give him all CDs of Darkside so that he could really get a feel for what we did in the past 20 years. I was stunned! Talking about Andreas' abilities would be carrying owls to Athens. And finally Janos, he has become a partner in crime for the past years, joining us on the MOONSPELL tour in 2007 and of course as band-mate in Demolition since 2005. I'm really exited about this collaboration and looking forward to the recording of the album. We have chosen about 20 old songs plus some covers and hopefully a new song is gonna make it to the album, too. Also, the collaboration with Joachim is something very special to me, we have been friends for so many years now…To sum it up, this line-up was what made me decide to continue the Darkside story once more – let´s see what the future has still in store for us.“
