September 16, 2010, 14 years ago
US metallers WHILE HEAVEN WEPT have been working on the forthcoming release of their new live album, Triumph:Tragedy:Transcendence - Live At The Hammer Of Doom Festival, set for a November release date.
Tom Phillips (guitar, keyboards, vocals) checks in with the following update:
"I am extremely pleased to inform you that Chris Salamone and I have just completed the mastering of Triumph:Tragedy:Transcendence - Live At The Hammer Of Doom Festival this week, and the results are incredible all things considered. But don't take my word for it... today I'm adding the first audio sample to all of our websites, including this MySpace Page, so I encourage you to have a listen yourselves!Currently, our good friends at Streetclip TV are editing the DVD program, and based upon the rough draft version I've seen, it's going to turn out absolutely amazing considering the number of cameras involved as well as the very musically-inclined filming.
The performance features an equal balance of material from all of our albums, and features a good amount of improvisation ala RAINBOW circa 1976, making this a very special release indeed.
I wanted to also take this opportunity to reveal the details pertaining to both formats "T:T:T" will be released in:

In addition to the CD/DVD set, there will be a limited edition 2LP set released through a joint collaboration between Cruz Del Sure Music, High Roller Records, and Iron Kodex Records in a quantity of 1,000 copies.
This 2LP set will be pressed on heavy vinyl (either 140g or 180g), and will be housed in an equally heavy, gorgeous gatefold sleeve filled to the brim with photos from our weekend in Germany, including some never-before-seen shots by Hans-Martin Issler. A stunning poster and full color insert will also be included in the package. 250 copies will be on colored vinyl, and you can expect this to be released on October 23rd, 2010 at the Hammer Of Doom 4 festival in Wuerzburg, Germany... which I will be attending personally to celebrate the release with all of my mates in the great bands that are performing.
The tracklisting for the LP edition is as follows:
'Vast Oceans Lachrymose'
'The Furthest Shore' (Parts 1-3)
'Soulsadness'
'The Drowning Years'
'Of Empires Forlorn'
'Vessel'
'Thus With A Kiss I Die'
Pre-order information will surface on each labels' respective website very soon, and we'll keep you posted.
In other news, both Lovesongs Of The Forsaken LP and the 'Vessel' 7" are in stock and available via High Roller Records in the EU and Maniacal Records in the US. Both of these releases turned out absolutely incredible.
While I'm discussing vinyl, I wanted to let you know that High Roller Records will also be doing a 2nd pressing for all three of our full-length albums to accomodate the demand that still exists for them. Those of you who purchased the first editions earlier in the year need not worry... these are identical releases for the most part... at least in terms of content. The one major difference is that they will all be on colored vinyl, but please don't buy them just for the sake of that... we don't want anyone to feel as if we're forcing them upon you; these are mainly for those who are missed the original pressings and of course the completists.
I'd also like to admit here that I had said earlier in the year that we weren't going to do any more limited edition releases, and sincerely I mean we weren't.... however, our circumstances have changed, and though I'm not yet at liberty to discuss what that means exactly, the bottom line here is WHW had some outstanding obligations to Cruz Del Sur Music, High Roller Records, Iron Kodex Records, and also our fans... I insisted upon following through with everything we'd agreed upon between our partners before we move on to the next phase for WHW. That is exactly what we're going to do, and I think it will all make more sense very soon.
Moving along here... I'd like to announce the addition of Jason Lingle on keyboards! That's right, Rain's former ALTURA bandmate has joined WHW officially and will make his live debut with us at next weekend's show in Raleigh, NC at The Volume 11 Tavern. Those of you familiar with Altura know he's a badass on the keys, and his addition will absolutely take the forthcoming music of WHW to another level.
I'm sure you're wondering what that means as far as Michelle... don't worry... she is still very much part of the band and will continue to contribute vocals/additional keys in the future, but for now, she's on "maternity leave" - as she and Trevor are expecting their second child in a couple months. Congratulations to both of them are in order.
Lastly, I wanted to confirm our participation in several events besides next week's Raleigh gig. We are very much excited and honored to share the stage with all of the bands scheduled for the following events:
The Volume 11 Tavern - Raleigh, NC - September 25th, 2010
Up The Hammers 6 - Athens, Greece - March 11th, 12th, 2011
Hammer Of Doom 5 - Wuerzburg, Germany - April 16th, 2011
ProgPower USA XII - Atlanta, GA - September 13th - 17th, 2011
For more information on these truly amazing billings, please refer to our "Events" section.
There is A LOT more news to come regarding the forthcoming studio album, Fear Of Infinity, and our future plans in general. There are MANY very exciting things going on "behind the scenes" and we'll make all this news public sooner than later!
Cheers to everyone who cares and has supported us throughout this year and the past two decades... November will mark the beginning of our 21st year and we're only getting started I assure you!"
