American Idol doesn't mean the end of AEROSMITH. Guitarist Brad Whitford swears Steven Tyler's TV gig won't get in the way of a new record. "We might actually get more work done because we haven't always been so disciplined when it comes to schedules," Whitford tells Boston.com.

"When Steven's filming, it'll only be two days a week, so it's our intention to do some new recording on his days off." And is Tyler on board with that plan? "Yeah, he's excited," says Whitford, who thinks Idol could make Aerosmith even more popular.

In the meantime, the guitarist is staying busy. Friday, he's gigging at the Reel Blues Fest, paying tribute to legendary bluesman DAVID "HONEYBOY" EDWARDS with an all-star lineup that includes James Montgomery, former BOSTON guitarist Barry Goodreau, ex-SANTANA sideman Michael Carrabello, and the UPTOWN HORNS. Next up for Whitford is EXPERIENCE HENDRIX, a touring tribute to late, great guitarist JIMI HENDRIX, and a project with Derek St. Holmes (TED NUGENT) and Johnny A.
