OZZY OSBOURNE Biographer Among Top Guests At Birmingham Comics Show

According to Neil Elkes from Birminghammail.net, one of the world’s leading comic writers appearing in Birmingham this weekend has told how Brummie rock legend OZZY OSBOURNE helped him to kickstart his career.
Mike Carey is a top writer for American publishing giant Marvel and has penned adventures for the Fantastic Four and X-men.
He is one of the headline guests at the British International Comic Show at Millennium Point.
The Liverpool-born author worked his way up from small independent publishers, and writing strips for sci-fi magazine 2000AD.
But it all started with Ozzy, as one of his first works was a comic biography of the Black Sabbath star, for American publisher Malibu. Mike said: “I did Ozzy and PANTERA, not because I was particularly into heavy metal, but that was what they were doing and the opening was there.
“With the Ozzy book I got a lot of help and support. Sharon Osborne put me in touch with a guy who was one of Ozzy’s number one fans, who’d been keeping scrapbooks of articles about him ever since the start of his career. It was a cool experience.”Read more here.
