DIMMU BORGIR Guitarist Galder - "If We Played Music Like Stormblåst Today, People Would Get Bored Of It"

DIMMU BORGIR guitarist Galder is featured in a new interview with Live-Metal.net. An excerpt is available below.
Q: Your sound has definitely changed over the years. I don’t want to say “mainstream,” but it certainly has evolved and is maybe more streamlined over the last few albums.
Galder: "I remember when the first Dimmu Borgir album came out, for that period, that album was more accessible than what was usually the norm. It was more symphonic with keyboards, so I think it was even more back in those days. It was even more accessible if you compare the time. And now, of course, we have evolved. I remember when I joined the band on Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia, people were like, 'This is strange. this different than the old stuff,' then people got used to it. So we just follow the time—we don’t want to get stuck in it. If we played music like Stormblåst today, people would get bored of it. So we have to change our style. We evolve as musicians and want to do different stuff as musicians."
Q: What’s been the flavor for the set list for this tour? Are you going with more of the new stuff, and are you mixing it up really well?
Galder: "We totally mix it all in, but we play four or five new songs. We definitely play some old songs, as well. We don’t play any of the really old stuff from the first album, but Enthrone Darkness Triumphant we play a few songs from. So yeah, we try to mix it up. This is the longest set we’ve played ever, I think. There are many songs, slow stuff and fast stuff. We try to mix it up."
