Italy's SpazioRock.it conducted an interview with Swedish guitarist YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, in which he discusses his new album, Relentless. The following is an excerpt:

Q: In Relentless, speed, good heavy metal music and precision blend together, giving the listener another album full of good stuff and I did appreciated that. Do you want to talk about the writing and recording process of the album a little bit?

A: "Sure! I did as I've always done a little bit. I just record everything in one place, right in my house. It's not like a little home studio, it has everything you can imagine. So, when inspiration comes, I go up there and record. And if it doesn't, I just don't go there and I don't record. Basically, it's the luxury of not having to do that if you don't feel like doing it. A big studio costs you 4, 5.000 dollars a day and you and you actually record what you like and what you don't like. So for me, that's great, because I write the record exactly how I feel. Sometimes it happened to me to be inspired while watching TV and thinking about how to play my guitar and then I just ran up to the studio and record drums, keyboard and everything. I have the luxury to do that whenever I feel inspired."

According to a press release, Relentless contains more than 60 minutes of brand new material and showcases the guitar great at his best with the signature virtuosity and mind-blowing technical speed for which he has come to be known. Relentless also features striking vocals from TIM "RIPPER" OWENS (ex-JUDAS PRIEST, ICED EARTH), who first collaborated with Malmsteen on 2008's critically-acclaimed Perpetual Flame (Malmsteen's first album for the Rising Force Records label).

Of the new album, Malmsteen commented, "The album title really says it all. The drive to surpass my own accomplishments can best be described with one word - Relentless. After all these years of composing and playing music, I still am passionate about pushing myself to the limit - to the highest, most demanding level of playing possible."
