Politico.com has issued the following report from Kiki Ryan:

Rocker and newly minted American Idol judge, Steven Tyler, is among the celebrity presenters coming to Washington this weekend for the annual Kennedy Center Honors. Tyler will be performing for honoree PAUL MCCARTNEY.

The AEROSMITH lead singer and THE BEATLES icon have a long history together. The two first met in the 1970s, when Aerosmith covered The Beatles' 'Come Together' for the movie, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (in which Aerosmith also appeared).

Tyler recently told WATD's Bob Gohl, "I'm currently doing American Idol, they took a break, were going into a thing called Hollywood week, and then I came home for Thanksgiving for my dad. I also got called up by Sir Paul McCartney and he asked me to sing the last four songs of Abbey Road, so i said 'umm ok,' doing it. So I'm headed down to the Kennedy honors in Washington."
