20 years ago today, original DEF LEPPARD guitarist Steve Clark passed away at his home in Chelsea, much too soon at the age of 30. The band's website has posted a note from Clark's former guitar technician (and current Leppard tour manager) Malvin Mortimer, remembering him.

"I have a black and white framed photograph of Steve Clark with my daughter when she was four or five years old, sitting on the floor together playing with her toys in Holland during the recording of HYSTERIA. My girls were visiting at my hotel room and he came to ask them to forgive him for keeping their dad away from home for so long. He loved my kids and they loved him because he always had time for them.

There are many photographs that evoke memorable moments for me.

He was a very gentle hearted man, always ready with a good word to say about anyone whenever it was deserved. Always a smile at the ready and a quick sense of humor to boot. We laughed a lot, he and I. He was a very kind and generous man.

I hope you will all join me today as I dedicate a few quiet moments to my friend Steve Clark."
