TIMES OF GRACE Frontman Jesse Leach - "You Can’t Really Escape The Fact That We Are Both From KILLSWITCH ENGAGE; There Will Be That Sound"
January 8, 2011, 13 years ago
TIMES OF GRACE, the new project that re-teams KILLSWITCH ENGAGE guitarist and producer extraordinaire Adam Dutkiewicz with original KsE vocalist Jesse Leach, will release their debut, The Hymn Of A Broken Man, on January 18th, 2011 via Roadrunner Records. Following is a new LoudTrax.com interview with Leach.
LoudTrax.com The Hymn Of A Broken Man album is all set for release. Tell us about the album and what fans can expect.
Jesse Leach: "It’s definitely the work of my career. It means a great deal to me. Lyrically it deals with stuff that’s been going on in our lives. I couldn’t be more excited for people to hear it after all these years in the making."
LoudTrax.com: There will be comparisons to Killswitch Engage. Seeing as you were a founding member of that band, what are your thoughts about this new band with relation to Killswitch Engage?
Jesse Leach: "You can’t really escape the fact that we are both from Killswitch, there will be that sound. But I think it pushes boundaries a little more than Killswitch Engage does. Adam himself with what he wrote, there is a lot more quiet stuff, and loud to soft parts. Even stylistically, we experiment more with different styles, like some indie rock and shoegaze parts with a lot of delay on the guitar. To me, that is just the beginning of our sound and what we’re going for. If all goes well and we get to do another record, I think we’ll be pushing the boundaries even more."

Times Of Grace is the second go-round for Dutkiewicz and Leach, who enjoyed incredible collaborative chemistry on KsE’s definitive debut, 2002’s Alive Or Just Breathing. Times of Grace doesn’t revisit the pair’s fruitful past; rather, it finds them taking a creative left turn away from what they’ve previously done, without diluting their signature styles as they explore new musical terrain. There’s an old adage that says the only way out is through, and with Times Of Grace, the singer and guitarist were able to use the vehicle of music to overcome and work their way through personal struggles.
Times Of Grace are getting ready to take the show on the road for the very first time.
The band will embark on its inaugural tour, beginning February 1st in Baltimore, MD and wrapping up in their native Boston, MA on February 27th. STRAIGHT LINE STITCH and WAR OF AGES will round out the bill, making for an evening of eclectic hard rock and metal.
