January 18, 2011, 13 years ago
Extreme technical metal pioneers ATHEIST will hit the road in support of the band's first studio album in 17 years, Jupiter.
The first show will be on Saturday, February 12th at the Cabana Inn in Sarasota, Florida, on the 20th anniversary to the day of the loss of the band's legendary original bass player, and one of the most influential bass players in metal, Roger Patterson.
Patterson was killed in an accident involving the band on their first American tour in 1991.
Says singer and co-founding member Kelly Shaefer, "We thought this would be a fitting start to our upcoming tour of the world
where it all started for Atheist in Sarasota, to honor our friend, and to also debut for the first time songs from our new album, Jupiter. Only 350 tickets will be available for this show in advance, or at the door. Support will be THE SOUTHERN INDUSTRIAL and BARRELHEAD. Atheist will also be debuting new bass player, Travis Morgan, at this show.
The Cabana Inn is located at 2525 South Tamiami Trail. Call 941-955-0195 or contact dirtyashtrayproductions@gmail.com. There are also a very limited number of motel rooms available at the Cabana Inn so reserve yours now, you will not want to miss this very special night."

Frontman Kelly Shaefer recently commented: "Greetings everyone, thank you all for the overwhelming support of our new album, Jupiter. We are humbled by all of the nice things being said about the new stuff and cannot wait to bring it to the stage. So now it's time to come pull some faces off in Europe on our first headlining run in support of the new album! And we are stoked to share the tour with the boys from EXHUMED. We are able to play a few places we have never been before so we are all very excited about that, as well as the fact that we of course have some fun new shit to play live - the songs from Jupiter along with songs from all three prior albums. See you all on tour in 2011!"
