Ryan’s Rock Show recently caught up with TRAP THEM vocalist Ryan McKenney. The pair discuss the definition of success and the band’s forthcoming album, Darker Handcraft, due on March 15 via Prosthetic Records. An excerpt from the video interview follows:
What is the definition of a successful band? A band that graces the covers of mainstream magazines, or is success defined as consistent touring, playing in front of 20 kids per night? Trap Them vocalist Ryan McKenney has little concern for mainstream notoriety or association. His primary focus: hardcore bands that don’t give a fuck. “That's what I identify with!” he exclaims. “That's what I get excited about.”

Trap Them's sound combines elements of old school Swedish death metal, punk, and d-beat and takes influence from bands such as ENTOMBED, BLACK FLAG, NASUM and TRAGEDY. The band has toured with the likes of NAPALM DEATH, Disfear, SKELETONWITCH, VICTIMS, ROTTEN SOUND, TOXIC HOLOCAUST and COLISEUM.
The band most recently released an EP on Southern Lord Records, and has previously released two full-lengths and several 7-inches and EPs on Deathwish Inc and Trash Art.
