Greece's Rockpages Web Magazine talked recently with SODOM's frontman Tom Angelripper, before the band's recent show in Athens, Greece. Here's an excerpt where he talks about working with producer Waldemar Sorychta (GRIP INC., ENEMY OF THE SUN ) and his view towards the reissue of Agent Orange:

Rockpages: So how is working with Waldemar Sorychta like?

Angelripper: "I think it was very hard, you know, because he was the producer and not just a sound engineer. I remember when I started singing all the lyrics and I had to sing every line in five different ways. He said 'you can sing like Tom Araya or…you can do the older Sodom vocals…' He likes the older Sodom vocals. Then when he started mixing he was putting those things together. So it was hard working with him. It’s very important to say we all have a studio where we record during rehearsals. Bernemann played his guitar in the cellar, you know. We don’t need to spend money on a big studio. We can spend the money for a good producer like Waldemar and you can work as long as possible until everybody is satisfied. When you go to a studio, you have to pay 800 € for each day. We don’t have so much money."

Rockpages: Sounds reasonable…Now I’ll take you to Agent Orange. It is one of those albums with a cult status. For me it’s perfect! What are the changes you are planning to do for its re-release? What do you feel that really needs to be changed?

Angelripper: “Agent Orange” was a good album for its time. It’s not my favorite album but it was a successful Sodom album. I don’t like the re-release, you know! The record company has permission to bring it out. I can’t tell them not to bring it out. The record companies can do what they want. I just told them that if they were going to do a re-release of this album I could help with photos and liner notes and whatever but I hate it. Do you know the difference between the original “Agent Orange” and its new re-master? It’s the same songs. Nothing special!"
