According to Winnipeg Free Press, a lunch-hour speech by Arnold Schwarzenegger in Toronto today (January 26th) has drawn a crowd of thousands, including KISS rock star Gene Simmons.

The Kiss bassist and singer, who is visiting Toronto, says he's interested in what Schwarzenegger, a self-made man, has to say.

On his way into the event, Simmons said he's not interested in entering politics, quipping that democracy is highly overrated.

Politicians such as Finance Minister Jim Flaherty, Liberal MP Ruby Dhalla and former Ontario Progressive Conservative leader John Tory are also in attendance.

Toronto Mayor Rob Ford met with Schwarzenegger before the speech and says he welcomed him to the city.

The mayor, whose weight has been a target for his detractors, says he has "to get in good shape like him."
