EXHUMED - New Album Due May/June
February 5, 2011, 13 years ago
Gore-metal originators EXHUMED are hard at work on their first full-length album since 2003’s Anatomy Is Destiny called All Guts, No Glory. Exhumed guitarist/vocalist/founder Matt Harvey, bassist Leon DelMuerte and guitarist Wes Caley have been at Arcane Digital Recording in Arizona working with engineer Ryan Butler (MISERY INDEX) to record vocals, bass and guitar tracks. Exhumed drummer Danny Walker previously laid down his drum tracks at Trench Studios with John Haddad (ABYSMAL DAWN, INTRONAUT). Mixing and mastering will be handled by Brian Elliott (GRAVES OF VALOR) at Mana Recording Studios (CANNIBAL CORPSE, GOATWHORE, NILE).
Matt Harvey spoke with Kik Axe Music about All Guts, No Glory recently. "I think sonically and stylistically the new one, All Guts, No Glory is kind of between Slaughtercult and Anatomy... It's clean and audible like Anatomy, but loud and loose and powerful like Slaughtercult. I'm really happy with how it came out – I think it kept the vibe intact, while still being clear and well-balanced. The guitar work in particular isn't quite as processed and controlled as it was on Anatomy, it has a little more dirt and grit in it this time around. The whole record has a little bit more space and room to work in than the last one, it feels a little more alive and in-your-face."
About the response to the reunion Haarvey adds: "It's been amazing that people actually still give a fuck all these years later. That's been really flattering and humbling. You know, when you're in the middle of doing something, and you've been doing it for years, you don't really have any perspective on what it is that you've actually done. Really, the fact that people still want to hear us play and hear our records is the culmination of everything I could have hoped for with the band. That's really all it's about, making music, getting together with people that enjoy it as much as you do, and then having a good fucking time. The fact that JOB FOR A COWBOY covered one of our songs was really surprising and flattering, even though I don't really listen to that type of modern death metal, and was a pretty big indicator that people out there, younger and older alike still remembered the band and gave a shit. I feel really lucky, to be honest."
