As previously reported, bassist Jim Sheppard from Seattle metallers NEVERMORE underwent surgery on Wednesday, February 16th to remove a benign brain tumor.

"Jim Sheppard made it through surgery and is in the recovery room already cracking jokes," according to a band update on Facebook.

During the creation of Nevermore's largest album, The Obsidian Conspiracy, BraveWords.com caught up with Sheppard at the Wacken Open Air. "In the last few years Nevermore experienced some down time due to my health (Sheppard underwent a procedure for Crohn's disease which he has suffered from for over 15 years) and I think it had a lot of impact on some of the song-writing. I feel like an outsider coming back into Nevermore after what I've been through, the health issues and stuff."
