STRYPER's Michael Sweet To Be Interviewed On WVOX's Metal Mayhem This Friday
March 1, 2011, 13 years ago
WVOX’s Metal Mayhem show presents an interview with frontman Michael Sweet, of Christian hard rockers STRYPER, on Friday, March 4th at 9:05 PM (EST).
Host Matt O'Shaughnessy and Sweet will talk candidly about the making of the band's new monumental CD, The Covering, a highly well done collection of re-made classic songs done only in the legendary Stryper fashion.
Stryper live on WVOX, this Friday, March 4th only on 1460 AM and worldwide on WVOX.com.
Stryper's controversial decision to record songs by secular artists (BLACK SABBATH, KISS, etc.) on their new album The Covering prompted a fierce debate between Radio Free Satan DJs David Ingram (BOLT THROWER / BENEDICTION) and Joel Gausten (PIGFACE / ELECTRIC FRANKENSTEIN / EFFECTIONHATE). On February 21st, the argument carried over to the airwaves in the first-ever Stryper Simulcast, which saw the two shows go head-to-head in the "ultimate battle between Good and Evil."
Gausten, who called Stryper's new release "the first great Metal album of 2011," devoted the entire new episode of his online show, Glory Is Noise, to the band's latest opus. Ingram, meanwhile, took a decidedly dimmer view of the album on the latest episode of his show, Metal Breakfast Radio.
And now, the results are in.
Based on the show pages' analytics, Glory Is Noise scored one for Stryper with an impressive 10-hit lead over Metal Breakfast Radio.
"I am ecstatic!" exclaims Gausten. "Wouldn't it be wonderful if four of those 10 hits came from the members of Stryper themselves? One can only hope. I would like to thank my 'Glory Is Noise' supporters, who clearly know a great album when they hear it. Also, I would especially like to thank the Illuminati as well as the Lizard People, who have been known to assist my endeavors from time to time."To his credit, Ingram took his defeat like a gentleman.
"Congratulations to Joel and Glory Is Noise on the victory, and a hearty round of drinks....I mean applause....to him for it!" Ingram says. "Never let it besaid that we at Metal Breakfast Radio are sore losers; only our ears are sore, from having to listen to that rubbish!"
Glory Is Noise is a bi-weekly show on Radio Free Satan. Each episode, host Joel Gausten offers an eclectic mix of music and exclusive interviews with mainstream and underground recording artists.
Hosted by Dave Ingram and Donovan Spenceley, Metal Breakfast Radio plays new, mostly underground bands, with the hosts giving their opinion of the submitted music as they hear it for the very first time. Opinions are honest, and often scathing, but all in good humor. With occasional guests, special episodes and lots of frosty ales quaffed, Metal Breakfast Radio has been likened to Mystery Science Theatre 3000 for Metalheads.
