BRING ME THE HORIZON - "We Don’t Really Give A Shit What A Few Whiney Metalheads Think About Us"

hot flashes news bring me the horizon

Emma Jackson at RockAAA.com recently caught up with guitarist Jona Weinhofen. The report is available below.

“We just do our thing and don’t really care what the naysayers have to say about us. We had a #1 record in Australia’s album charts, received the album of the year in Rock Sound magazine last year and have so many other accolades and proof of success under our belts. So to be fair, we don’t really give a shit what a few whiney metalheads think about us. The funny part is that people rarely have the guts to actually say anything to us in person. And the last guy who did had a full drink tipped on his head by one of our girlfriends.”

But for BMTH, who have just come off the road with BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE, they’ve also had to take some negative feedback from the Bullet fans. The 28-year-old added:

“We get on well with the Bullet guys. We share the same management so have known them for a long time and supporting them was a huge opportunity for us. There are obviously going to be Bullet fans who are closed minded and not open to liking BMTH and that’s fine. Most of them are just jaded metalheads who think that BMTH are still 19-year-olds with long black fringes and can’t see past the past.

It’s also a bit mind boggling because I can’t see what we’re doing as being that different from bands like Bullet. They play heavy music like us however they’re on the radio and on covers of magazines all the time making them a much more mainstream type of heavy band than us.

Usually it’s the poppy mainstream bands that get dissed on by the metalheads, not the bands that don’t get that mainstream coverage. Having said that, Bullet is definitely a band we look up to and aspire to be like in a professional sense. There’s a reason they’re a massive band!”
