Michael Poulsen, frontman for Danish rockers VOLBEAT, has issued the following update:

"The DK club tour is now over, and we would like to thank all the fans and supporters who gave us a big smile on our faces. It was great to be back on the smaller stages where we could see almost everyone of you and be in close contact with you from the stage and meet you after the shows.

Last year when we did the big arena shows with a capacity up to 10,000 people, it was really a great accomplishment for us to do something like that and try new forces with a new and bigger production and that's definitely something we're going to do again. But again we were listening to our fans, just as you have to listen to us now and then :-). Some of you requested to have Volbeat back on the small stages again, and woosh that's what we did. And let me tell you, we had a really really good time and felt good about doing it again.

Your support and dedication to the band is amazing and beautiful/inspiring.

The last two years have been crazy. We've been playing some of the biggest shows at the biggest stages with some of the biggest bands. On top of that we've been going through lots of hard work, personal changes in our lives and in the band, which is great. We believe that you are the same people that voted for Volbeat at the P3 Gold Radio Award Show, so we'd like to thank you. As you might know, we won the listener's award which is the most important award, so thank you for this. Everyone in the band was sick at this show, but we knew that some of you were out there in the audience, and we didn't wanted to disappoint you by cancelling.

My health hasn't been good for the last six months and I'm still struggling with insomnia and some nerves in my back and chest, and what seems like a forever lasting (three months now) cold. However with this being said, your support and dedication to the band on this club tour were the right medicine for everyone in the band. We had such a great time with all of you, lots of high energy/contact and sing along. It took us like 45 minutes in the first show to get to that very high energy level. That was a clear monster and factor for the rest of the tour.

Thanx to everyone who came from outside of Denmark to support us, you ROCK! We also want to thank all the working people at the venues. Thank you for your work and for being kind towards Volbeat and our crew. We are looking forward to meeting you all again soon. US coming up in a minute… :-)"

Kind regards

Michael Schøn Poulsen & Volbeat

As previously reported, Volbeat's new album, Beyond Hell/Above Heaven, has reached gold status in Germany for sales in excess of 100,000 units. Poulsen is thrilled about the award:

"Gold status in Germany sounds pretty good to me. That’s a whole lotta CDs, and these days it’s not an easy achievement. I’m really proud, and everyone in the band is happy about it, because particularly the German fans have supported Volbeat right from the beginning. Thank you people, YOU ROCK!"

Volbeat is touring Germany this summer with performances at Rock am Ring, Rock im Park and Full Force Festival, as well as several other venues in Europe. Check out their concert calendar here for details.
