Canadian metal veterans HELIX check in with the following update from mainman Brian Vollmer regarding their previously announced acoustic shows in April and May:

"On Wednesday, May 11th we’ll be playing our acoustic show at the Aeolian Hall in London, Ontario. We’re very excited about this new show and we’re hoping for a sell out.

The Aeolian is the perfect venue for this show-great acoustics and a beautiful venue. We’ll be playing all the songs from Smash Hits Unplugged that night plus a couple more - 'Running Wild In The 21st Century' (Brent’s version) and 'Tug O’ War' (Daryl’s accapella version).

SEAN KELLY is opening the show and will join us onstage for our entire set. It’s an early show with doors opening at 6 P.M. Sean hits the stage at 7 P.M. and we’re on a little after 8.

Between songs we’ll be talking about how they were written, or how they came about to be recorded by the band. At the end of the night we’ll be answering questions from the audience and then having a “meet and greet” at the merchandise booth.

We’ll also be performing this show when we play Peter’s Place in Gravenhurst on April 30th. Both shows will be filmed and then shopped to prospective theatre promoters. We’re hoping that this will get us more of these dates to fill our calendar.

Vollmer recently issued the following update:

"In the next month we’ll be going into A Studios to record three new tracks: Champagne Communist, When the Bad News Blues Come Calling, and Angelina. We’re also toying with the idea of possibly recording our acoustic show at the Aeolian Hall here in London on Wednesday, May 11th. Tickets are now on sale for this show and we’re hoping for a sell-out. You can contact me at bvollm0656@rogers.com for tickets. The three new songs will be used as 'bonus' tracks on a compilation CD set for a fall release entitled Running Wild In The 21st Century - The Best Of 2000-2010."

Helix recently unveiled the new video for the song 'When The Bitter's Got The Better Of You'. The song is from the band's 2009 album, Vagabond Bones.

Says the band: "Once again Brent ("The Doctor" Doerner; guitar) has done a great job to put together the freakiest, most visually stunning Helix video to date.
