ALEX SKOLNICK Lists His Top Ten Scary Scores
April 7, 2011, 13 years ago
ALEX SKOLNICK was recently interviewed by BloodyDisgusting.com, in part to promote Veritas, his new jazz album with the ALEX SKOLNICK TRIO. The TESTAMENT and former TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA guitarist was also asked to list his Top Ten Horror Soundtracks.
Number One was Halloween. In Alex's words: "Director/writer/composer John Carpenter created one of the most effective themes, despite being one of the most sparse. Like many good horror melodies, Halloween has a lot in common with metal riffs, with a focus on the darker sounding intervals. So its no coincidence that this is a theme I heard used for an intro tape many years ago by an extreme metal band from Southern California playing the Bay Area for the very first time. The band was called SLAYER."
