MACIFECATION - Rare Shrine Of The Mortalities 1992 Canadian Demo On eBay

A rare copy of early Canadian death metal pioneers MACIFECATION's 1992 demo, Shrine Of The Mortalities, has appeared for auction on eBay. The five-song, pro-packaged and recorded cassette was circulated internationally through the metal underground upon it's release, charting on many metal radio shows and receiving lots of press attention (including an overtly positive review in M.E.A.T Mag). Alongside then contemporaries KATAKLYSM, GORGUTS, OBLIVEON, OVERTHROW, Macifecation were on the cutting edge of the 'new' death metal scene in Canada mixing up speed/death/grind metal influences into a pummeling technical hybrid style. The nucleus of the group came together in 1989 in Ingersoll, Ontario as Desecration and put out a demo the same year called Ignorance Is No Excuse. With the arrival of guitarist Randy Harris in 1991, they changed their name to Macifecation and played the Ontario and Quebec circuit. On the strength of 'Shrine Of The Mortalitites' the band were receiving inquiries from interested labels but shortly after their appearance at the 1993 Toronto Death Metal Fest, bassist/vocalist John Winter and guitarist Ryan Gamsby were killed in an automobile accident and the band ceased to exist.
