SCAR SYMMETRY - "We Haven't Really Made Any Specific Plans Or Steps To Ensure Our Success"
April 27, 2011, 13 years ago
MetalAssault.com recently caught up with SCAR SYMMETRY drummer/lyricist Henrik Ohlsson. An excerpt from the interview is available below:
Q: As most musicians know, the path to recognition is a long and daunting one. More often than not, bands break up or slow down due to the stresses of touring, writing, etc. What steps did the band take to ensure its success?
Henrik: "We haven't really made any specific plans or steps to ensure our success, we've just kind of gone with the flow of things. But positive personal chemistry in a band is really important, I know that because the band almost broke down when we had personal problems within the band with the previous line-up. If a band makes sure that everything is cool between the members then the chances of survival and the persistence of vitality increases. In this business there are no guarantees of course, anything could happen at any point, but if you have the 'right' people in the band you have a good stepping stone towards success. We also have specific roles in the band, everyone knows their place in Scar Symmetry and never tries to break those roles. That's also important because it makes sure that the sound of the band stays intact. If anyone in the band besides the songwriters wants to write songs or whatever, they do that in their other bands/projects and it works out great."
