VANDEN PLAS Singer Returns With ABYDOS
July 27, 2004, 20 years ago
VANDEN PLAS singer Andy Kuntz has resurfaced following an extended break from the metal spotlight with his first solo outing, ABYDOS. The debut album, entitled The Little Boy’s Heavy Mental Shadow Opera About The Inhabitants Of His Diary, is in fact based on a theatre play written by Kuntz and is described as a “modern fairytale that includes autobigraphical touches of the storyteller.”
The track list is as follows: 'The Inhabitants Of His Diary', 'You Broke The Sun', 'Silence', 'Far away From Heaven', 'Coppermoon (The Other Side)', 'Hyperion Sunset', 'God's Driftwood', 'radio Earth', 'Abydos', 'Green's Guidance For A Strategy Adventure Game', 'Wildflowersky' and 'A Boy Named Fly'.
Musically, the album is steeped in ‘70’s prog-rock with the expected Vanden Plas influences. Joining Kuntz on the album are Stefan Glass (guitars, keyboards), Michael Krauss (guitars, keyboards) and Vanden Plas drummer Andreas Lill.
The album will be released on August 30th through InsideOut.
