Longtime US-based writer Bryan Reesman spoke with BLACKFIELD’s Aviv Geffen for his Attention Deficit Delirium Podcast #5 where he talks about the future of Blackfield, the future of the album format, working with bandmate Steven Wilson (PORCUPINE TREE) and more. An excerpt from the interview is below:
On the future of Blackfield: "It's here to stay. We're going to do the fourth album soon. It's a band. We're on tour for two months. We did a great album. Me and Steven right now are at a great point of creating new things."
On the future of the album format: "I think we know what we're headed to. The album is going to vanish soon, and Blackfield is the last warrior in this thing."
On working with Steven Wilson: "I think it's like the yin/yang. I'm the missing part of Steven's life, he's the missing part in my life. I think it's like a mixture between GENESIS, DEPECHE MODE, PINK FLOYD, KURT COBAIN and BOB DYLAN. It's really mixed up with so many angles. That's what makes Blackfield so special."
On strings in heavy rock: "I think there are many bands that have shitty tracks, and it's all covered with a live orchestra, but I think Blackfield deserve to have a real orchestra."
