As previously reported, DEEP PURPLE's legendary 1984 'comeback album' Perfect Strangers will be released as a deluxe remastered edition this summer.
Darker Than Blue has issued the following update regarding the contents of the reissue:
"CD1 will be the straight remaster (including the original non-album track 'Not Responsible' - which was later fitted onto the picture disc vinyl edition).CD2 is an odds and ends disc with some tracks from Knebworth (which is already released as a stand-alone package), the b-side 'Son Of Alerik' and more from the instrumental jam out-takes (which is where Alerik originated).
CD3 will be the old Interview Disc Polydor issued as a promo for the album back in late 1984. This was from exclusive interviews done by the late Phil Easton."
According to Wikipedia, at the time it was the first Deep Purple studio album in nine years, and the first with the Mk II lineup for eleven years, the last being Who Do We Think We Are in 1973. Ritchie Blackmore and Roger Glover arrived from RAINBOW, Ian Gillan from BLACK SABBATH, Jon Lord from WHITESNAKE, and Ian Paice from GARY MOORE's backing band.
The album reached #2 in Norway, #5 in the UK (staying for four weeks in the top-40) and #17 in the US (staying for 28 weeks in the Billboard 200).
