Sweden’s WOLF play classic NWOBHM-influenced heavy metal and have just issued their sixth album, Legions Of Bastards. To celebrate it, guitarist Johannes "Axe" Axeman (pictured at left) sat down with former JUDAS PRIEST guitarist K.K. Downing's Steel Mill for an extensive interview. An excerpt follows:
What is the story behind the band's name?
"Well we wanted a name that was short, exciting and really cool. First we wanted to be called Wolverine, but nobody liked it. Wolf is short and really kick-in-the-face like name."If you would need to consider another animal than wolf, what would it be?
"Hah, something pretty similar. I think Shark would sound pretty nice also! It needs to be some kind of predator 'cause it states the band best."Since the early days, you have been a band who hails to '80s metal. Judas Priest and IRON MAIDNE are quite obvious inspirations?
"Absolutely. We are really into the old school metal and you can hear it through our music. We love heavy metal and want to share that feeling with our fans around the world."To read the rest of the interview, click here.
