#18) CRYPTOPSY - None So Vile (Wrong Again Records - 1996)
CRYPTOPSY were seen as the quicker, smarter, more stratospheric cousins of Quebec deathsters KATAKLYSM, suddenly, vaulting to international status, if not by this their second record, certainly after a couple more. Still, None So Vile was seen as an increase of intensity for a tired death scene, combining extremity and serious rhythmic complexity, welling up from percussion wizard Flo Mounier. The album saw reissue twice, underscoring its imprint on death. It was the last album to feature vocalist Lord Worm, until his return on 2005's Once Was Not and the cover artwork is a painting of Herodias With the Head of John the Baptist by Elisabetta Sirani.
