AC/DC's Family Jewels exhibition at the WA Museum - seen by 70,000 fans since April - finishes on Sunday before being shipped to Scotland and the US.

The red-and-black shrine features personal letters, gig posters, lyrics and photographs set to the blistering guitar rifts and heart-thumping beats that have made the Aussie band famous for four decades.

The rarest item in the collection is one of Angus Young’s original school uniforms.

Although more than three times as many fans - 220,000 - visited the Melbourne leg of the national Family Jewels tour, Perth Museum CEO Alec Coles says the WA viewings have been consistent and diverse.

He expects a surge of visitors before the doors close on Sunday.

"What has been great has been the diversity of visitors,'' he said. "It is for anyone interested in contemporary music and musical culture in Australia. It's also poignant that it is here on what would have been the 65th birthday of the late Bon Scott – one of Fremantle’s most famous sons.''
