WARRANT To Pay Tribute To Jani Lane Tonight; Death Being Treated As Accidental Overdose Or A Possible Death From Natural Causes

According to TMZ, Jani Lane's former band WARRANT will pay tribute to the fallen singer at their concert tonight in North Dakota.

Guitarist Erik Turner, who co-founded the band, says: "We will be making a tribute before we play the song 'Heaven' tonight. We never thought that when the song 'Heaven' was written we would be playing it someday in the memory of Jani's untimely death. This is a very sad day for rock and roll. One of the great things about music is that it lives on forever."

In other news, investigators found a half-empty bottle of vodka and prescription medication in the hotel room where Jani Lane died yesterday TMZ has learned. Paramedics were called to the Comfort Inn in Woodland Hills, CA yesterday around 5:15 PM. He was pronounced dead on the scene. An autopsy is scheduled for later today. Lane's death is being treated as an accidental overdose or a possible death from natural causes.

The Los Angeles Police Department also sent out the following news release regarding the passing of Jani Lane:

"On August 11, 2011, patrol officers from Topanga station responded to a 9-1-1call of a death investigation in Woodland Hills. At around 5:30 p.m., Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics arrived to the 20100 block of Ventura Boulevard, immediately followed by Topanga Area officers. When emergency personnel arrived, the Fire Department pronounced the death of a 47-year-old man, later identified as Jani Lane, the lead singer of the popular rock band Warrant. The cause of death is unknown and the Los Angeles County Coroner's Office is conducting an investigation into Mr. Lane's death."
