HADES' Dan Lorenzo Talks Sports With That Metal Show's Eddie Trunk
August 18, 2011, 13 years ago
HADES guitarist Dan Lorenzo recently chatted with Eddie Trunk from VH1 Classic's That Metal Show.
Lorenzo commented, "I probably spend more time listening to sports radio than I do music, and I know Eddie loves sports as well. With that in mind I wrote something for next weeks issue of Steppin' Out magazine. I put an advance of my interview with Eddie on the Steppin' Out blog."
A few excerpts follow:
Q: Yesterday it was reported that Giants quarterback Eli Manning compared himself favorably with Patriots QB Tom Brady as one of the league's premier quarterbacks.
What did you think of Eli Manning's quote that he considers himself an elite quarterback?
A: "I think that considering the guy was a Super Bowl MVP he feels he has a right to say that, but his overall career performance doesn’t really support it. Although I do think he has some intangibles that you love in a QB. You can’t rattle him and he does not miss games and can make some big plays, but so far I would not agree with “elite”. I think the next five years for him will really determine his all time standing, but you can never take away that Super Bowl which means so much. Also he had a ton of interceptions, but like half of them were off tips that should have been caught."
Q: What do you think of Rex Ryan?
A: "I understand the appeal and how he can be viewed as the ultimate guys guy football coach, but the talk is just over the top after a while and the way the media hangs on it is sickening. I also think he puts massive pressure on a young team writing checks they can not cash. Sanchez went to a championship game his first two seasons which is pretty incredible, but because the coach will not stop with his Super Bowl prediction every year it's almost forgotten. As a Giants fan I root for them to lose because I’m sick of the whole thing. Rex can keep talking about the Super Bowl, we will keep winning them. I have much more respect for the old school leadership of Coughlin."
