GUNS N' ROSES guitarist Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal recently caught up with Gibson.com at the Gibson New York City Showroom. He discusses the day guitar legend JOE SATRIANI recommended him for the Guns N' Roses gig, and comments on his new protégé, Mexican singer and actress, Poc. Check out the interview below:

Back in July, Thal released 'There's A Kind Of Hush', the seventh song in a series of singles being released digitally in 2011.

Bumblefoot comments: "This song was recorded alongside Bernadette, a week before my first tour with GNR in May 2006. The vocals are inspired by Engelbert Humperdinck's cover of the song, and my affinity for feel-good loungy songs of the '60s & '70s, contrasted by a wall of guitars and the Dennis's drum reflections filling the room. Smooth vocals over driven intense instruments, love the contrast....

Rhythm guitars were with the Line6 Vetta2 combo, the same one I lugged in my car a week later to those GNR NYC warm-up gigs at the Hammerstein. While mixing this song in mid-July 2011 I added the end guitar solo, using the Vigier Bfoot '09 guitar on the neck pickup (DiMarzio Chopper) through the Engl Invader100 head.

And here it is, song #7 in the 2011 song-a-month series, enjoy!!"

A sample of the song can be heard using the audio players below:

There's A Kind Of Hush (Full Mix): Bumblefoot I

There's A Kind Of Hush (Instrumental Mix): Bumblefoot II

According to a press release, the song is available in MP3 (320kps), AAC, and higher-quality formats FLAC, MP3 HD, Apple Lossless and WAV. An instrumental version of the song is available in these formats as well.

For guitarists, there's a Player Pack that has a transcription of the entire lead guitar track as a PDF file - musical notation, TAB, fingers, picking, and helpful hints. Included with the transcription is a 'Backing Track' mix and a 'Boosted Lead Guitar' mix, in both WAV & MP3 formats.

The Producer Pack contains 48kHz/24-bit Stereo WAV files of the mix 'stems' - individual files of drums, bass, lead & rhythm guitars, lead vocals and backing vocals in a bundle that you can load into your multi-track software to play with levels, make your own mixes, and hear every nuance of each instrument's performance on its own track.
