Greece's Rockpages recently conducted an interview with NIGHT RANGER drummer Kelly Keagy. In the interview Keagy talks about the band’s new album Somewhere In California, The possibility of a reunion of the original Night Ranger lineup, and more. Excerpts from the interview are below:

Rockpages: Somewhere In California must be the best Night Ranger album since Man In Motion. Was it something made consciously by the band? I mean, did you, Jack and Brad sat down and said “let’s make an 80’s sounding record?

Kelly Keagy: “We didn’t really intend to do that…it just came about when we sat down and started writing the songs. It was natural for us …it’s funny what people are saying about the 80’s sound…from my point of view, it sounds incredibly modern. That’s how modern hard rock should sound like.”

Rockpages: Yeah, but it’s still a more traditional sounding record than your previous album Hole In The Sun.

Kelly Keagy: “That’s correct. I think that you are referring to the tuning of the guitars…the tuning was lower on the last album. I think that was the main difference but you’re right. “

Rockpages: Kelly, I want you to be honest with me. Do you ever think of doing one last show or even a record with Alan and Jeff?

Kelly Keagy: “I think what happened and it kinda fits with your last question …the way things turned out with Jeff (Watson) and Alan (Fitzerald) was really a natural evolution for the band. Jeff decided that he no longer wanted to be a part of Night Ranger and Alan wanted to work more as a musician. As far as doing another show…well, it may happen! Who knows? I am not gonna close that door because after all we started Night Ranger with these guys.
