QUEENSRŸCHE's Geoff Tate Says The Band Continue To Work On Next Record
September 11, 2011, 13 years ago
PopStar.com has issued part II of an interview with QUEENSRŸCHE vocalist Geoff Tate. An excerpt from the chat follows:
PopStar.com: What do you consider to be your most gratifying achievement, both personally and professionally?
Tate: "Well I think first and foremost for me is raising kids. Seeing my kids out of the house, raising them to adults and trying to instill in them my values and my wife's values. Just seeing them being able to be, if nothing else, just happy people and not in need of serious therapy. I just became a grandfather about a month ago and that's screwing with My Head a little bit. Professionally, I feel very proud of the fact that we've remained together as a band all these years and we still can get into a room and create something and still make records, which is really important to the mental status of everyone in the band. If we just had to play live shows and play all the songs that we've written, I don't think we'd all like that very much. We wouldn't stay together. It's the ability to keep making records, I think, that really draws us all together. I feel good about that. There's not a lot of bands who have been around as long as we have and who are still making music."
PopStar.com: So what's up next for you and for The Band?
Tate: "Well we're going to be doing ShipRocked which is a cruise. This will be the second time we've done it. The first time we did it, we had such a great time, we wanted to do it again. It's a bunch of different bands all playing on this cruise ship. It's a five day cruise and typically it's a big floating rock and roll party. You'll be on this boat with thousands of rock fans and everybody's having a great time. There's bands playing all day long and into the night, and the party just doesn't stop. I'm looking forward to the trip. It's a nice way to kind of cap off the end of the tour for us."
PopStar.com: And are you working on material for the next album?
Tate: "Yes we are. We take our studio gear on the road with us. We usually have a separate room at each venue where we set up and we're working on the next record there."
