Sony Music recently announced the release of a unique JUDAS PRIEST album. The Chosen Few is an album curated by Judas Priest’s contemporaries in the music world – each artist picking their own favourite Priest track and explaining why it is special to them.

Included are legends such as OZZY OSBOURNE, METALLICA's James Hetfield, ALICE COOPER, DEF LEPPARD's Joe Elliott, SLASH, MOTÖRHEAD's Lemmy, SLAYER's Kerry King and Corey Taylor (SLIPKNOT, STONE SOUR). All build an album from the very best of Judas Priest – from 1977’s 'Diamonds And Rust' through to 1990’s 'Painkiller'.

Judas Priest bassist Ian Hill spoke to Jay Nanda from the San Antonio Metal Music Examiner about the compilation. Here are a few excerpts from the chat:

San Antonio Metal Music Examiner: Is there anything on The Chosen Few that surprises you?

Hill: "Not really, no. We're absolutely self-flattered. There's no higher attribute when you get Lemmy and Ozzy on there. We're a bit isolated, unfortunately, from the news, but from what I've seen of the early draft a month old, it seems like a fantastic list."

San Antonio Metal Music Examiner: If you had to pick one song for it, what would you choose?

Hill: "You want me to pick one? I tell you what, we're playing 'Blood Red Skies' live, and it's one of those great production pieces that's been overlooked over the years. It's got slow parts, fast parts, heavy parts - a little bit of everything."
