Andy DiGelsomina, composer and lead guitarist for the Wagnerian opera metal project LYRAKA, will be interviewed by DJ Syn for Metal Messiah radio. The interview will be aired Wednesday, September 28th at 9 PM (EST) at this location.

The opera project's second album, Lyraka Volume 2, is scheduled for release November 30th. Andy DiGelsomina has issued a statement concerning an updated tracklisting, commentary, and vocalist lineup for the album:

"'Volcano' is a duet I have written for Graham Bonnet (RAINBOW, ALCATRAZZ) and Veronica Freeman (BENEDICTUM). It is a very heavy and dissonant track, with an involved chorale section inspired by the music of Béla Bartók. The lyrics explore the concept of Will, and were inspired by the philosophies of Arthur Schopenhauer and Friedrich Nietzsche. Rob Diaz (VASTATOR) will be added some very metal-operatic vocals to the orchestrated section of this track.

'Lyraka (On Dragon's Wings)' is a pop-py, upbeat track written for Graham Bonnet. It's very catchy and driving, and we hope to inspire people with this composition's positive message.

'Defender of the Faith' is a composition I've written for Graham Bonnet, Mark Boals (YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, ULI JON ROTH, RING OF FIRE), and Liz Vandall (ULI JON ROTH, SAHARA). The track details the existential angst experienced by the character Locke, who is the head of Lyraka's palace guard. The lyrics were inspired in part by the crisis experienced by the character Wotan in Richard Wagner's epic opera Die Walküre. This song also will feature backing vocals by Veronica Freeman.

'Lilliput' is a thrashy song about the desert queen of Errandia, sung by Uli Jon Roth's resident vocalist extraordinaire Liz Vandall. Lilliput challenges the ways of the other characters in Lyraka, inviting them to take their professed ideals into the harsh sunlight of her desert kingdom of Errandia.

'Father' is the album's mega-epic, sung by Mark Boals as the character Neires and Liz Vandall as Lilliput. The composition is constructed like a symphony, with several movements within. The first movement features massive, Götterdämmerung-ian orchestration and introspective vocal performances from Mark Boals and Liz Vandall. The second movement is the track 'Semmonet' which is sung by Al Atkins (HOLY RAGE, JUDAS PRIEST). 'Semmonet' is a banging blues-metal track at base, but with other musical genres interwoven to add dimensions to the character, whom is Neires' father. The third and final movement is 'Neires' Ocean Journey', which features Mark, Liz, and Al trading off vocal parts. Musically this movement is very thrashy and driving.

'Abyss' is a song I've written for Rob Diaz of the Chilean band Vastator. It is musically related to black metal, but of with that typically Lyrakan classic metal base, with plenty of crazy guitar and blasting drums. Lyrically the song is influenced by the philosophy of Danish philosopher Søren Kierkegaard."
