BILLY IDOL / CAMP FREDDY Guitarist Billy Morrison - "Music Actually Changes The Way You Feel, But Unlike Smack, It Doesn’t Leave You Wanting To Die When It’s Over"

Guitarist BILLY MORRISON (BILLY IDOL, CAMP FREDDY) has issued the following update:
"I’m starting to put my toe back into the blog waters after a month of inactivity. Life sometimes rears it’s head and demands that you pay attention and when it does, other things have to take a back seat. But as the dust settles on a few weeks of craziness, my head starts to focus on the upcoming Billy Idol shows, the Camp Freddy Xmas dates and a few other things that have been bubbling away nicely in the background. I’ve decided to do a couple of diary entries for www.billyidol.net again to cover these rehearsals and the West Coast dates in October – gimme a second to get my literary head on straight and I’ll get a rehearsal blog up there soon. And talking of rehearsals, it’s stunning how quickly the memory comes back – within two days, my fingers were doing what my brain was telling them to do. The band sounds incredibly strong and we have been focusing on the new (or old, but new to us) tracks that we intend to play this month. I find the power of music fascinating – I remember the strength of feeling that rode over me when I first heard the SEX PISTOLS (not just a ‘wow I like this’ type of feeling, but more of a ‘oh my fucking God I wanna do that for the rest of my life’ type feeling) – and the feeling of walking back into our rehearsal room to begin working on the Idol songs for October was just as powerful. All the stresses and ups and downs of the previous month simply melted away and I was surrounded by guitars and equipment and people that were just focused on playing amazing songs as well as possible. Music actually changes the way you feel. But unlike smack, it doesn’t leave you wanting to die when it’s over. It doesn’t make you go out and do stupid things just to hear some more. And it doesn’t turn on you when you least expect it and bash you over the head into submission. I’ll take an ounce of that, please."
