LITA FORD On Popularity Of 'Kiss Me Deadly' - "It's Absolutely Insane; It's Sort Of The Soundtrack Of People's Lives That Goes Back To '88/'89"

Rock veteran LITA FORD is featured in a new interview with Jay Nanda at Examiner.com discussing her career and forthcoming album. An excerpt is available below:
Q: I saw Kip Winger in concert about six weeks ago in Austin. His opening act was a local band of six attractive ladies called THE COVERGIRLS, and they did 'Kiss Me Deadly'. Obviously, they're not the first band to play that, but does the popularity of that song today surprise you?
Lita: "It's insane (laughs)! It's absolutely insane. I just say to the audience, 'Well, I went to a party last Saturday night,' and everyone goes nuts. It's sort of the soundtrack of people's lives that goes back to 1988, '89, and I'm sure a lot of people then were having children or going through a difficult time. Sometimes that song hits home and helps you get through the hard times. Or whatever the times may be. Sounds like a LED ZEPPELIN song (she starts singing 'Good Times Bad Times' and laughs). How many times can you look back on an occasion and say, 'God, I was at that party, and they played that song?' It starts bringing back memories."
Q: What's the latest with your new album, and how does it differ from Wicked Wonderland and some of the earlier records?
Lita: "Well, I don't consider Wicked Wonderland a Lita Ford record, but it differs from the others because it's dark. It's dark and nasty. It's sexy! That part doesn't differ much. Sexy is always there. I love a good sexy song! But it's from the heart. It's almost a true story. I haven't written in so long. We're producing the album at GARY HOEY's studios."
Q: Why do you feel Wicked Wonderland was not a true Lita album?
Lita: "I don't know, it wasn't really my songs. I sang parts of the songs, not all of them. Greg Hampton played guitar parts. Although I got all the photographs, and they put my name on it (laughs), it's not really a true Lita record. The artwork was great. But I didn't do that much to the writing. There were three people to the writing of it. When you listen to it, it's not really a true Lita record, but this next one coming up, I'm doing everything with Gary Hoey's guidance. It's been real easy, it's been real, and you can hear it when you listen to the CD. Like, 'Wow!'"
